Monica MacDonald
Monica Macdonald is a native of Prince Edward Island. She received a Bachelor of Fine Art in 1996 from Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and studied at the Sir Wilfred Grenfell College in Cornerbrook, Newfoundland.
In a review by Ray Cronin he mentions Macdonald's "strong design with vertical or diagonal slashes of river and roads, contrasted to the horizon and the deep blue of rivers and oceans."
Her awards include the John Lewis Paton Scholarship; the Ida Harvey Scholarship; and the Franklyn Book Prize.
Monica's work has been shown in numerous solo and selected group exhibitions. She remarks that the "goal of her works is to paint the experience of being in the landscape."
