Melissa Murphy Desrocher

Jewelry designer Melissa Murphy Desrochers was born and educated in Fredericton, New Brunswick. She graduated from the University of New Brunswick with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology. After nine years in the pharmaceutical industry Melissa made a career change. While living in Labrador she learned the Art of Lapidary through various workshops with Monty Lewis. She was also influenced by the work of Inuit Labradorite carver John Goudie. In 2006 she returned to Fredericton where she studied metal/jewelry art for over 2 years. In 2007 her Labradorite Tree of Life jewelry was recognized with a 1st place award at the annual NBCCD Metal Arts Competition. She has participated in a nember of juried and curated group exhibitions. Many of her pieces may be adapted with interchangeable pendants.
